DreadQ operates at dreadq.com. For privacy, account, copyright, or other legal questions, use our Contact page.
Agreement & Scope
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern use of DreadQ.com, including movie discovery, account features, reviews, scores, personal collections, and community tools we may make available (the “Service”). By browsing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Where an optional third-party service has separate terms, those terms also apply to your use of that provider.
Age & Mature Content
DreadQ accounts are intended for adults age 18 or older.
You must be at least 18 years old to register an account or submit member contributions, and legally able to agree to these Terms. Public content may include discussions or imagery related to graphic violence, abuse, sexual violence, disturbing crime, self-harm, suicide, and other mature subjects. Viewing material on the site does not replace parental oversight or applicable age-rating requirements.
DreadQ does not host or sell access to the third-party films shown in its catalog. You are responsible for deciding what you watch and for following applicable age restrictions on third-party streaming platforms.
What DreadQ Offers
DreadQ provides movie information, genre and disturbance filters, DreadQ intensity scores, content warnings where available, trailers, streaming links, watchlists, ratings, reviews, personal DreadQ Scores, DreadPoints, and related tools. We may add, revise, suspend, or discontinue features, including community forums and related participation systems.
Our service is a discovery and entertainment resource, not a movie distributor, emergency service, therapy provider, or professional recommendation service. Some information comes from external providers and may be incorrect, unavailable, or out of date.
Scores, Reviews & Content Warnings
The DreadQ Score measures disturbing intensity—not whether a film is good.
Movie DreadQ Scores, personal DreadQ Scores, intensity dimensions, audience ratings, rankings, recommendations, and content warnings reflect scoring systems, sourced facts, estimates, or opinions. They are not official age certifications, definitive safety statements, or guarantees of your individual response.
A missing warning does not mean a movie is free from a particular theme. Trailers, descriptions, and user reviews may contain spoilers despite reasonable spoiler controls. Catalog information and streaming availability may change by region and date. Check official provider information before relying on prices, access rights, availability, or viewing suitability.
Where DreadQ uses artificial intelligence for editorial assistance, generated explanations may be inaccurate. DreadQ’s own score calculation is distinct from optional AI enrichment.
Accounts & Security
Provide accurate registration details, keep a current email address, safeguard your credentials, and report suspected unauthorized access via the Contact page. You must not impersonate someone else, bypass an account suspension, transfer your account to conceal misuse, or use another member’s account without permission.
Usernames are not changeable through the current self-service account system; display names may be edited. Email verification, security checks, and—if enabled—administrator approval can be required for account access. Google sign-in is optional when available and is subject to Google’s terms.
Use the account privacy controls carefully: making your member profile private will not automatically unpublish all previously submitted reviews or other public contributions.
Lists, Profiles & Public Contributions
You can create personal movie lists and profile details in accordance with available features. The Watchlist, Watched list, and Dread Profile have independent visibility settings, and private settings must be respected by other members. Published reviews may appear on film pages even if the author has a private profile.
Do not post personal contact information or sensitive details about yourself or another person unless you have a lawful basis and understand that publicly displayed material can be indexed, quoted, or saved outside DreadQ.
You are responsible for the submissions made through your account and must have sufficient rights to any text, image, or other content you upload.
Reviews, Discussions & Community Rules
Where available, member features may include movie reviews, helpful votes, reaction controls, discussion topics, replies, reports, and member profiles. Participate in good faith, keep submissions relevant, use spoiler markings appropriately, and distinguish personal opinion from verified facts.
- Do not harass, threaten, stalk, target, or encourage abuse of other members.
- Do not post hate-based harassment, sexual exploitation content, illegal material, or content that invades another person’s privacy.
- Do not upload copyrighted materials without permission or another lawful basis, or use misleading impersonation.
- Do not post spam, scams, advertisements disguised as reviews, malicious links, malware, or deceptive promotions.
- Do not manipulate scores, ratings, helpful votes, DreadPoints, reports, badges, or leaderboard rankings through duplicate accounts, coordinated voting, automation, or other abuse.
- Do not publish instructions that facilitate unlawful acts or seek to evade site security, access controls, or moderation.
DreadQ may review, withhold, edit for formatting, restrict, or remove contributions and may suspend accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these rules, protect other users, or comply with law. Content approved or left visible is not an endorsement. For a moderation concern, contact us through Contact.
DreadPoints, Scores, Badges & Ranks
DreadPoints are a site participation metric awarded for eligible activity under the rules and limits in effect at the time. Examples may include approved movie reviews, adding or watching movies, and approved community participation where supported. Personal DreadQ Scores separately reflect qualifying watched-movie intensity and are not equivalent to DreadPoints.
DreadPoints, achievements, ranks, and leaderboard placements are not money, property, or a guaranteed reward.
They have no cash value, are not transferable, cannot be redeemed for money unless we expressly publish a separate program, and do not create a financial entitlement. Award amounts, eligibility thresholds, daily limits, and features may change. DreadQ may reverse points credited through errors, duplicate actions, manipulation, or violations, consistent with applicable law.
If optional badges, titles, Hall of Dread leaderboards, or discussion-related rewards are launched, they may use verified activity and selected public profile information. Their display and privacy behavior will be governed by the feature’s applicable settings and updated disclosures. There is no guarantee that these future features are currently available.
Rights to Your Content
You keep ownership of original material you submit. By providing a review, post, avatar, or other content, you grant DreadQ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, technically modify, format, publish, and display that material only as reasonably needed to operate, promote, moderate, and maintain the Service and its community features, subject to your applicable privacy settings and legal rights.
This license lasts as long as the content is retained for these purposes. For example, approved reviews and ratings may remain after ordinary account deletion with identifying account links removed, as explained in our Privacy Policy. You may request additional deletion or correction through Contact, subject to applicable rights and exceptions.
You represent that your content does not violate another person’s copyrights, privacy rights, or other legal rights. We may decline to display submissions that fail moderation or quality standards.
Site Content & Intellectual Property
The DreadQ name, original site design, written material, software, and other original content are protected by intellectual-property laws to the extent applicable. Movie posters, stills, trailers, provider logos, names, and metadata may be owned or licensed by their respective rights holders. Those third-party owners retain their rights.
You may browse and share ordinary links to DreadQ pages. You may not mass-copy, resell, rehost, or commercially exploit protected site content without permission or another legal basis. Separate open-source licenses for software remain in effect where applicable.
DreadQ uses data from TMDb, including movie metadata, and may use Movie of the Night for streaming availability. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Third-Party Websites & YouTube
External streaming services, retailers, movie studios, and other linked websites control their own pricing, availability, content, subscriptions, billing, cancellation, and refund policies. DreadQ does not sell you a streaming subscription or guarantee playback. Disputes about purchases or services obtained from those providers must be addressed with them, subject to your legal rights.
DreadQ uses YouTube API Services and embedded YouTube trailers. By using YouTube features, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s information practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising & Affiliate Relationships
DreadQ may display advertising in the future, including Google AdSense, if approved and enabled. Advertising may be personalized or contextual depending on settings, consent, and applicable law. Third-party advertisers control their advertising content and destinations; a displayed advertisement is not an endorsement by DreadQ.
Some streaming or retailer links may be affiliate links. DreadQ may receive a commission when you complete a qualifying action, ordinarily without an added cost to you. Review the linked provider’s offer terms and privacy practices before making any purchase or signup.
Prohibited Technical Uses
Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access, probe or exploit security vulnerabilities, interfere with accounts, upload harmful code, scrape private member information, bypass technical limits, or overload the website. Automated access must not interfere with the Service or violate applicable law, site restrictions, or third-party rights.
You may not use DreadQ content or member data for spam, impersonation, surveillance, fraudulent activity, or unauthorized commercial redistribution. We may restrict access to protect site operation or user safety.
Reports, Corrections & Copyright
We strive to correct factual errors in movie details, scores, and availability information when sufficient evidence is provided. Reviews and comments are member opinions and may not be fact-checked in advance. You can report issues or request review of content through the Contact page.
For copyright or other intellectual-property concerns, send us the affected page URL, identify the protected work, describe the allegedly infringing material, provide information sufficient to evaluate the claim, and state how we can reply to you using the protected Contact form. Additional information or a legally prescribed notice process may be necessary. We may remove or restrict content while reviewing a valid complaint.
Account Closure & Termination
You may stop using DreadQ at any time. Registered users can request deletion under Account → Delete Account (also linked from Account → Privacy). The current system displays a cancellation deadline before permanent deletion is processed; the default cancellation period is seven days but settings may differ. Ordinary deletion removes personal account data and private lists, while approved reviews and ratings may remain without a link to your account.
We may suspend or end access in response to serious violations, manipulation, unlawful conduct, security risks, repeated harassment, or discontinuation of the Service. Where appropriate and lawful, we may provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Privacy rights and any rights that cannot legally be waived remain unaffected.
Availability & Disclaimers
We work to maintain accurate information and reliable access, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation, permanent storage, a complete movie database, the availability of every trailer, or error-free scores and recommendations. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent permitted by law.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim implied warranties and liability for indirect or consequential losses resulting from use of the Service, inaccurate recommendations or third-party content, temporary outages, or external transactions. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable protections for fraud or intentional misconduct, or removes mandatory consumer rights.
Governing Rules & Changes
Applicable laws, including mandatory consumer and privacy protections, govern your use of DreadQ. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive your right to bring claims before a court or other authority with jurisdiction. If a provision cannot legally be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply as far as the law permits.
We may revise these Terms as the website evolves. Material changes will be identified by an updated date and, when required, additional notice or renewed agreement. Changes are effective as stated and subject to applicable law. If you disagree with revised Terms, you may discontinue use and request account deletion.
Contact DreadQ
For questions about these Terms, privacy rights, copyright requests, account issues, or moderation decisions, use the DreadQ Contact page. We intentionally do not display a public contact email in this document, to reduce address scraping and spam.
